Fukuroda no taki, a splash of Ibaraki

Frontal view

January  2nd, 2013.  So grateful to make it to another one of the three famous waterfalls in Japan, after Kegon falls in Nikko, this one called Fukuroda falls which located in Ibaraki Prefecture.

Winter waterfalls

I must thank our kind-hearted friend, Oji, for letting us stay in his nice room, cooking us a heavenly delicious dinner, and taking us early in the morning to the falls.

Fukuroda falls is special in a way compare to other falls in Japan. In the peak of winter the water will be frozen and ideal for ice-climbing for those seeking some adventure. When we came, it was not cold enough though, so we missed watching the ice-climbing part. The trees around the falls were barren, making the view lack of color. In my opinion, coming in autumn will be more rewarding, photo-wise speaking.
